ScienceMobile Youth Programs
Stargazing for Guides and Scouts
Explore astronomy with the Museum’s Stargazing program presented by a ScienceMobile astronomer. Through various hands-on activities and demonstrations, participants will be on their way to obtaining their astronomy badges.
Participants take a journey through the stars in the Museum’s inflatable planetarium. They learn tips to find the major constellations of the night sky, and hear the fascinating stories behind them.
(Minimum space requirement applies: planetarium is 6 metres x 6 metres x 4 metres high)
Night Sky Observation
Participants observe the starry night with telescopes. They find out how this astronomical device works, and are introduced to star charts.
Participants explore the Solar System, the Moon, and other astronomical bodies — including real meteorites — through this highly interactive and visual presentation.
Teacher Tips: Program dates are suggested to coincide when the moon is visible in the night sky.
All programs are offered within 100 kilometres of Museum only; for locations 50 to 100 kilometres from the Museum, a $ 75 surcharge applies.
